In 1979 Casen Engineering was established by Frank Carrazon. He started off the business by renting a shop with one lathe and a drilling machine. Within a year he added on another lathe and milling machine. By 1982 he had bought his own premises. At that stage his machinery had expanded to 3 lathes, 3 milling machines, a grinder and a radial drilling machine.
In the beginning Casen worked for the mines doing drilling bits. As our reputation grew, the mines pushed us into doing rubber moulds. Working again to such tolerances, we then started doing moulds for paving bricks. This was all apart from the general engineering. By 1990, we started working for the train industry. This industry grew to 60% of our turnover. Apart from the general manufacturing of products, we also repair and refurbish items that get reused on refurbished trains. Six years ago, we developed a way in which all the worn and damaged brake shafts could be repaired and not replaced-saving the industry a huge amount of money.
Twenty Eight years on and Casen employs 16 people and have in the region of 24 machines. Our main line now is rolling stock, where we control the full products from raw material (cast, fabrication and plating) to assembly. We have also started to make Kit Forms (brake gear system) which again reduce only the delivery time but also price.
Further to this Casen also does a lot of casting products and since we have the patterns (which have already been paid for), the majority of casting does not include the price for the patters therefore having 2 big benefits for our customers:
| 1. Quantity is not problem-no matter how small |
| 2. Prices are charged for the material and any machining done. |
As can be seen we are not new to the "game" with a highly motivated and skilled team, taking pride in our quality, control and customer relations. It is our company's main priority to guarantee customer satisfaction and to achieve this objective we focus on timeouts deliveries, quality workmanship, reliability and understanding of the need of our customers. To further promote customer satisfaction, an inspection room is facilitated.
Growth through prosperity is not only focused on our company and its people, but for our already distinguished list of customers. With our forward thinking we are now starting to make a difference in the industry by improving prices and down time. |
